Leslie Utegg Sr. alongside son, Curt Utegg

It all started when…

Utegg’s Body Shop was started in 1968 by Leslie Utegg, who lead the way for honest, family-oriented workmanship for our hometown community. In 1968, Les bought the garage that would be the start of operations on Route 6 in Columbus. He worked out of this building for ten years until 1978. It was around this time that Les moved operations to the newly built shop on Baker Hill road. Over the years, Les had already started building relationships with people from within the community. Over time, the relationships grew to these community members being loyal, dedicated customers. Because of these relationships that were made, the business took off and was busier than they could have ever imagined. Curt soon began to work alongside his father at the family business. Les and Curt made a great team together and realized they needed more room to expand what Les had created. This led to the move from Baker Hill to East Smith Street in 2010, and when Curt made the change over to owner. The values stayed the same and the workmanship followed. Since 2010, we have been able to expand our customer base to many surrounding areas.

Where we stand TODAY…

Quite a bit has changed over the last few years and we are excited for what our future holds. In the automotive industry, the advancement of technology has created a new approach to vehicle repair. Because of this, we have updated our equipment to match what the industry standard requires. We strive to provide top-quality service to our community while serving them to the best of our abilities. For over 50 years, our clientele has enabled us to be where we are today thanks to their support. It is our pleasure serving our local and surrounding areas, as we don’t plan on slowing down anytime soon. Evolving with the times is inevitable and we are on board to do what it takes to provide the best service we can.
